Experimental band from Manchester, formed in late 2022 by Zack Stargaze. After a period as a duo with Josh Pirch, Pirch left the group in May 2023 and a new lineup was introduced.
Releases explore ambience, electronica, and psychedelic rock/post-punk. The group disbanded on 4 August 2023.
The Cheethams began their musical career in mid-2023, when Zack Stargaze formed a band with his friend from a stage school: Josh Pirch. The two recorded a 2-track single, '1.45 (Outside)' which released on 22nd April 2023, followed by the album 'Introducing The Cheethams' which released on 17th May 2023.
Pirch left the band shortly after the album was released, and a second lineup was recruited to record a new album. The band released a second 2-track single entitled 'Spider' on 26th June 2023. The lineup also released a brochure titled 'The Cheethams full and glorious Guid e.' which included a download code for an exclusive outtake/demo compilation EP titled, 'The Cheethams: Unheard'. On August 4th 2023, due to numerous complications, the second Cheethams album was cancelled, the second lineup took their leave, their back-catalogue was archived and everything from that point on were classed as demos. The Cheethams were placed on an indefinite hiatus.
On 16th March 2024, The Cheethams returned with the original lineup to release the single, 'Deaded & Ditched', which Josh Pirch later stated would be "Our final single", marking the end of an era, and a fitting close for one of Zack's most beloved musical journeys.
On 7th October 2024, seven months since the releases of 'Deaded & Ditched', group frontman Zack Stargaze announced the return of The Cheethams, with their 2023 debut album being newly remastered and rereleased onto physical media (Vinyl & CD) and streaming, set for January 1st 2025.
